Art of the Melt

Art of the MeltIn UAlbany’s Boor Sculpture Studio, a piece of scrap bronze sits atop a melt furnace burning at 2000 degrees Fahrenheit — as hot as volcanic lava. Once the heat softens the metal, it is crumpled and lowered into the crucible to melt completely. Students help recycle the molten metal by pouring it into molds for reuse. Photo by Patrick Dodson

By providing scholarship support after a student successfully completes an unpaid internship, the The Buzen Fellowship for Future Leaders delivers a dual impact: rewarding students for their commitment while also strengthening nonprofit and mission-driven organizations that may not have the resources to offer paid positions.
