What Unites Us
When you think about your campus experience, what made you feel that you truly belonged? This is what we’re asking Great Danes in 2026, as we celebrate the connectedness and diversity of the University at Albany community. The Alumni Association is collecting commentary from Great Danes about belonging and feeling at home on campus. Content gathered for our “Words that Unite” initiative will be kept anonymous but will be shared on various platforms to inspire current and prospective Great Danes. Lend your voice in this uplifting campaign and help us celebrate what belonging means at UAlbany.

Speaking of what unites us as Great Danes, save the date for UAlbany Homecoming, October 2-4, 2026! The annual pre-game celebration and Homecoming football game is Saturday, October 3. Come out and support your UAlbany football team, led by new head coach Tom Perkovich, as they host Delaware State at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium. Spread the word, reach out to your friends and family and make plans to join the UAlbany community for an exciting weekend.

Spring is one of our most exciting times at the Alumni Association, as we recognize our Excellence Award recipients and this year’s new “GOLD Award” honorees, and welcome thousands of graduating seniors to the alumni family. Congratulations to all and remember: you are forever a Great Dane!

Thank you for staying engaged with your alma mater, and for making the UAlbany Alumni community the most valuable network for all Great Danes.

Ross Honig ’85, Rich Golubow ’85, Adam Barsky ’84, Jon Burman ’85, Steve Schallop ’85, Larry Ostroff ’85, Alan Mukamal (SUNY Binghamton), and Jeff Stillman ’85 attended a Dead & Co concert at The Sphere in Las Vegas last spring. Nic Rangel ’06, ’11, received Albany Law School’s Humanitarian Achievement Award. A 2012 graduate of Albany Law, Nic serves as the executive director of Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York. She is the secretary of the UAlbany Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Kappa Beta brothers Bill Robelee and Premal Shah ’71 attended UAlbany Day at the Races, an annual event hosted by the Alumni Association at Saratoga Race Course. Premal traveled from Dubai to join fellow Great Danes on July 16. Both Bill and Premal serve on the Alumni AssociationBoard of Directors, and have established scholarships for UAlbany students.

The Alumni Association welcomed incoming EOP students to UAlbany in August. The annual EOP Ice Cream Social provides a valuable opportunity for students to connect with staff and alumni volunteers before the semester begins.
